Cows can fly at Cowbird
I enjoyed reading Colleen's Story Storybird story and while the idea is a great, I couldn't find any templates that I feel would be suitable for adult readers. Having worked in adult literacy, I'm always aware of providing age appropriate reading materials for adults.
Cowbird is another story site that I found via Twitter. I follow a most interesting lady Nancy White @NancyWhite & after reading about her experiements I signed up for Cowbird - to do this I first had to send a request with my reason for joining. I now get regular updates of stories shared - here's an example: First thing one morning, this gift . Will share my cowbird story when it's created.
Buddys Learning
Robyn & I just spent a few hours getting focused on our projects. Will leave it up to Robyn to share what she got out of the session but for me it was a great time to realise; my researching has been useful & I was able to articulate my vision. Double Dutch?
My project is to develop a collaborative sharing spare for teachers (& other interested persons). The key words being share & collaborate. I think a wiki is the tool to provide the space for all the sharing and collaboration to occur but I need to ensure the space can be easily edited by teachers. Found some interesting reading yesterday and have added the links to my Delicious . My next step is determine the best wiki tool to use. Jobs for next week will be to meet with a few technical people at MSIT or yell for help.

And so it begins ...
Over the past few weeks I've had 2 meetings with what I think will become the Staff Portal team. The proposed Staff Portal will host a number of spaces. Staff will be able to access the portal externally and in most cases via their staff login. Information will be stored either behind or outside a firewall depending on the security requirements. My space is likely to be outside the firewall.
I gave my project the title "PD Share Space" and I am keen for staff to be able to access this space without too many restrictions thus the proposed structure is great. Now I'm confident of a home for my project the next step is to clarify issues of design, content and which tools to use.
I'm also keen to ensure staff will be able to add to the space and thought a wiki would be the best platform. I've been researching other similar spaces and really like how Sydney Institute of TAFE have used wikispaces.

Workshop - Day 1
Today is the first day of March & the first workshop for the Digital Content LP program. Colleen asked us to create a blog for recording our DCLP journey. The plan is to record progress, document successes and challenges and finally to keep me on track. I've used Blogger before but have never been keen about blogging so perhaps this is one skills I'll be working on over the next 8 months.
So where's the obligatory photo of me or an avatar? Most of my photos are on the iPad but it seems blogger is not totally iPad friendly but I was able to use a gadget (is this a new name for a widget?) to add a slideshow of photos from Flickr. I've been using Flickr more this year as part of my 366 Photo project. Love playing with photo editing apps & think I'm beginning to understand the skill - something I've found so overwhelming when dealing with programs like Photoshop.
